Using an interpreter or someone you choose for Telephone Banking

If you would like an interpreter or someone you choose to speak with us on your behalf over the phone, we need your permission to do this.

This process is only required when a third party will be communicating with us by telephone on your behalf. It helps us protect your personal information and ensure that any instructions given are authorised by you.

How to set this up

Step 1: Visit your local PTSB branch

A member of staff will help you complete a short consent and indemnity form.

Step 2: Authorise your interpreter or someone you choose

This authorisation allows us to communicate with you through:

  • A qualified Irish Sign Language (ISL) interpreter
  • Someone you choose nominated by you

We complete this process in person to help protect your privacy and keep your account secure.

Once this is set up

  • Your authorised interpreter or someone you choose can contact us by phone on your behalf.
  • We will carry out the necessary security and verification checks.
  • We can discuss and assist with your banking query in the usual way.

Keeping your account secure

Security checks are an important part of protecting your account and personal information. These checks help us confirm that you have authorised the communication and allow us to carry out any actions requested on your account.
