Daily card spending limit

You can set and change your daily Visa Debit Card spending limit in your PTSB app, giving you more control over how much you spend each day.

Your default daily limit is €2,500, and you can adjust it at any time between €0 and €5,000. This allows you to increase your limit for larger purchases when needed, or lower it for extra peace of mind.

Adjusting your daily spending limit in the PTSB app

  1. Log in to the PTSB app
  2. Go to Cards and select your personal Visa Debit Card
  3. Select daily spending limit
  4. Enter the amount you want (from €0 to €5,000)
  5. Confirm the change (you’ll be asked to complete Strong Customer Authentication (SCA))

Please note: Changes may take a few minutes to take effect.

Protect your money and stay safe from fraud

We recommend that you only increase your Debit Card limit when you need it for a specific purchase or short period. If you don’t need a higher limit, keep it at a level that feels comfortable for you.

  • Never increase your limit at the request of someone contacting you by phone, text or email. PTSB will never contact you to ask you to increase your Debit Card limit or to share your Visa Debit Card CVV number.
  • Always be cautious when making online purchases or payments. Double-check the website address and avoid clicking on suspicious ads - instead, go directly to the official site.
  • Keep your personal and financial information safe. PTSB will never contact you and ask you to share your full 6-digit Personal Access Number (PAN) or ask you to move money or make payments to a “safe account”.

Warning: If you suspect fraud, don’t hesitate to contact our Fraud Department on 01 669 5851 - we’re here to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
