Zippay is a new person-to-person mobile payment service that will be available to PTSB, AIB and Bank of Ireland customers. From 10 March 2026, Zippay will begin rolling out in the PTSB app on a phased basis. Zippay is a quick, easy and secure way to send and receive money, using just a mobile number.
With Zippay, you can send to, request from, and split payments between other Zippay users using your contact list or a mobile number.
Zippay is available to personal banking customers, over the age of 16, with an eligible PTSB Current Account. To use Zippay, you’ll need to have version 12.10 of the PTSB app installed.
No, there are no additional charges for using Zippay.
Yes, for Zippay to work across all participating banks, a third-party technical service provider called Nexi is needed. Nexi is a trusted third-party, any personal data that must be shared with the service provider will be shared securely

If you have received a letter or email from us about Zippay, you may already be automatically enrolled and will only need to complete a few steps in your PTSB app to start using Zippay.
If you haven’t received a letter or an email, don’t worry - if you are a personal banking customer, over the age of 16, with an eligible PTSB Current Account and have downloaded the PTSB app, you can enrol by following a few additional steps.

From 10 March 2026, new customers who open an eligible PTSB Current Account, will be automatically enrolled to use Zippay unless they chose to unenrol during account opening. If you are an existing PTSB customer opening a new Current Account, your existing Zippay preference will carry over and be applied to your new Current Account.
The first time you open Zippay in your PTSB app, you will be asked to enable access to your contact list. If you do not enable access to your contacts, you can still send money by manually adding a mobile number. If you change your mind, you can enable access to your contact list at any time in the “Settings” of your mobile device, not within the PTSB app.
Yes, PTSB Joint Current Accounts are eligible for Zippay, each person on the account can use Zippay their PTSB app.
If you have multiple eligible Current Accounts, your default account for receiving Zippay payments has been automatically set to the account you use the most. You can still send and request payments from your other accounts.
Yes, you can view and change your default account in the “Settings and Security” section of your PTSB app at any time.
No, if you enrol in Zippay, all eligible PTSB accounts will be enrolled. If you unenrol, all eligible accounts will be unenrolled.
If you unenrol and later open a new eligible PTSB account, it will not be automatically enrolled in Zippay.
You can unenrol from Zippay in the “Settings and Security” section of your PTSB app, this will mean you can no longer use Zippay. Choose “Unenrol” to stop using Zippay while keeping your details on the Zippay database, or “Unenrol and Delete” to remove your details completely.
You can also unenrol by visiting any PTSB branch or calling 0818 50 81 50 (or +353 1 212 4841 from abroad), Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm (excluding public holidays). Processing may take up to 24 hours.
Please note, it can take up to 24 hours to process your unenrolment.
If one person on a Joint Current Account decides to unenrol from Zippay, the other person on the account can still choose to use Zippay in their PTSB app.
Yes, the minimum amount of money you can send with Zippay is €1 and the maximum is €1,000. Your daily limit will be visible in the “Zippay” section of your PTSB app.
You can send money from any eligible account enrolled in Zippay. When you go to send money, you will be shown all your eligible PTSB accounts, and you can simply choose the one you want to use.
The Zippay logo will be displayed next to a person’s name in your contact list within your PTSB app if they use Zippay.
When sending money, you will be presented with the masked name of your contact, for example, if you’re paying “John Smith”, you will see ‘Jo** Smi**’.
If you do not recognise the name of the person you are trying to send money to, we recommend that you do not make the payment. If you make a payment to the wrong account, we may not be responsible for any loss.
Yes, the minimum amount of money you can request with Zippay is €1 and the maximum is €500 per request. You can have up to 30 payment requests, including individual requests and group split payment requests, open at any one time.
If you have multiple eligible Current Accounts, your default account for receiving Zippay payments may be automatically set to the account you use the most. Your default may be set with another bank if you have an eligible account enrolled for Zippay with them.
When you are setting up Zippay for the first time in your PTSB app if your default account has not been automatically set, you will be asked to choose your default account.
All payments sent to you will be credited to your default account. You can view and change your default account in the “Settings and Security” section of your PTSB app at any time.
Each payment request is valid for 30 days. You can choose to accept or decline within 30 days. Alternatively, if you do not take any action, the request will expire after 30 days.
Yes, within the Zippay section of your PTSB app, you will be able to view processed, pending, cancelled, rejected and expired requests.
We recommend you decline any payment request from a number you don’t recognise or let the request expire. You can also block a contact from sending you payment requests.
You can block a contact from sending you unwanted payment requests in the Settings and Security section of your PTSB app. You can also unblock contacts in the same section.
With Split Payment, you can divide a payment request with up to 30 other people.

No, with Split Payment the amount requested can be split equally or set to a specific amount.
