Zippay is a new person-to-person mobile payment service that will be available to PTSB, AIB and Bank of Ireland customers. Zippay is coming to the PTSB app early next year – a quick, easy and secure way to send and receive money, using just a mobile number.
With Zippay, you can send to, request from, and split payments between other Zippay users using your contact list or a mobile number.
Zippay is available to customers of participating banks. Some PTSB Current Account customers will be automatically enrolled into this service when it launches in early 2026. If this applies to you, you will receive a letter or an email in September with more information on automatic enrolment, including how to opt out.
If you don’t receive a letter or an email from us about Zippay, don’t worry - if you are over 16 with an eligible PTSB Current Account, and have downloaded the PTSB app you will be able to enrol when Zippay launches.
After Zippay is launched, new customers who open a PTSB Current Account, will be automatically enrolled into Zippay unless a customer opts out during account opening.
No, there are no additional charges for using Zippay.
Zippay is supported by a third-party technical service provider. The following informational data will be securely shared with this service provider to ensure you’re automatically set up when Zippay is launched:
If you have more than one eligible Current Account, your default account for receiving Zippay payments will be automatically assigned based on which account you use the most. You can view and change your default account in your PTSB app at any time after launch. To identify customers who may have more than one account across PTSB, AIB and Bank of Ireland, a secure combination of your date of birth and mobile number will also be shared.
Additionally, the following data will be temporarily shared with our service provider so that they can assign your default account:
Once your default account is assigned, this temporary information will be permanently deleted by our service provider.
For Zippay to work across all participating banks, a third-party technical service provider is needed. This is a trusted third-party, any personal data that must be shared with the service provider will be shared securely.
If you recently received a letter or an email from us about automatic enrolment, this communication includes how you can opt out of Zippay by the 28 October.
To use Zippay, we will need to securely share some of your personal data with a service provider, if you don’t want to enrol in Zippay, you don’t have to.
You can opt out of Zippay in the “Settings and Security” section of your PTSB app, please make sure you have downloaded the latest version of the PTSB app. Alternatively, give us a call on 0818 50 81 50 or +353 1 212 4841 (from abroad). Lines are open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
If one person on a Joint Current Account decides to opt out of Zippay, the other person on the account can still choose to use Zippay in their PTSB app.
Zippay will be available in the PTSB app in early 2026, we’ll keep you updated with messages in your app, on ptsb.ie, social media and by email, if we have your email address. You can update your email in the “Settings and Security” section of your PTSB app.
