Unrecognised transactions

A business name may appear on your statement that you do not recognise and may be because some companies trade under a different name to what you might associate with it.

Here are some trading names of companies that customers have often not recognised in the past followed by the more familiar name or service.

• ATM withdrawals from retail shops – These machines may appear with ATM names that are not linked to the shop where the cash is withdrawn. It is important when reviewing your statement to look at the amount withdrawn, date and time of the withdrawal and match that to your known activity.
• Subscriptions - Where a transaction appears on your account that you are not familiar with, it is worth checking to see if this is a recurring payment. Check the same time last month or the same time last year. It is often not recognised on statements as customers may have previously signed up as part of a free trial or they may be a recurring subscription that was forgotten about.
