As part of our Fraud Monitoring System, we may contact you if we identify unusual or suspicious activity on your card/account to verify your use of your card/account. Contact can be made in 3 ways, Phone, SMS or Contact Letter – the phone number displayed on the SMS and Letter to contact us on will always be +353 1 6695851.
Criminals may spoof the number they are calling from to make it look like it comes from a PTSB number. They may also spoof the SMS sender ID and as such the SMS may present itself within a genuine previous thread. The following quick guidance always applies to identify genuine contact from the fraud department:
It is important that you read and understand the full message received before inputting your One Time Password. You should never provide this information to a 3rd party.
To help protect you from fraud, we may occasionally block specific ATM and card transactions temporarily if we identify any unusual transactions on your card. This may happen if your card/account is being used in an unusual way or in a country which we suspect fraudulent activity is happening.
If this happens to you please call 0818 502 424 from abroad +353 1 2124101, alternatively you can contact the Fraud Department on +353 1 6695851. We will then ask you to verify your transactions by asking you some security questions. We would recommend that you store these contact details in your mobile phone for future reference.
When we contact you we will never ask you to disclose your PIN, Verified by Visa/Visa Secure Passcode or security logon information. If you are in any doubt about the authenticity of a caller / email or SMS that you have received, take their details and call the number on the back of your card without delay.
Don’t forget to let us know your travel dates and destination before travelling by logging into your online banking and updating your travel note. Alternatively, you could call 0818 502 424.
PTSB use Visa Secure. All you need to do is ensure that your mobile number registered with PTSB is up to date and that you are registered for Open24 online banking, as we may send you a One Time Passcode and request 3 digits of your 6 digit personal access number to complete some online transactions with participating merchants.
Please note: If you have registered a device for online banking and you have enabled push notifications this facility will also be used for your online shopping transactions.
