Please be wary of fraudulent text messages and phone calls claiming to be from PTSB. We will never ask you to download a remote access application such as Any desk, or TeamViewer. If in doubt, call us immediately on +353 (1) 669 5851. Lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
How this scam works
- You receive a phone call claiming to be from PTSB.
- You're told to search for a web page and click "live chat" to "fix" an issue (e.g, a tax/PAYEE problem or suspicious payment).
- The "chat" asks you to download software like TeamViewer or AnyDesk.
- Once installed, the criminal can control your device, see your screen, and guide you to approve payments you believe you're canceling.

PTSB will never
- Ask you to download any remote-access app.
- Contact you asking for your Open24 password, full login details, or One-Time Passcode (OTP) by phone, text or email.
- Send links to pages that ask for online banking logins.
- Ask you to transfer funds to another account for security purposes, or to "cancel" a payment.
What to do right now
- Hang up the call. Do not click links or install software.
- Call our Fraud Department on +353 (1) 669 5851. Lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- If you already installed software, disconnect your internet, power off your device, and call us.
- If you approved or see unknown payments, call us so we can advise next steps.
- You can also report to An Garda Síochána.
