PTSB has announced two senior appointments to the bank’s leadership team following competitive selections processes.

The bank has appointed Fiona McMahon as Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and Mairead Kirwan as Head of Compliance.

Chief Risk Officer

Fiona McMahon is a former Chief Risk Officer at Ulster Bank Ireland DAC and previously was Director of Compliance at that bank. Ms McMahon joined PTSB in January of this year as Head of Risk. As Chief Risk Officer, Ms McMahon will join the Bank’s Executive Committee. She will be responsible for providing independent oversight of the Bank’s enterprise-wide risk management activities across all risk types and will report to the CEO and independently to the Chair of the Board Risk and Compliance Committee.

Ms McMahon previously worked at the Central Bank of Ireland (2001 – 2018) where she rose to the position of Head of Division – Banking Supervision.

Head of Compliance

Mairead Kirwan has worked at PTSB since 2015. Until this appointment, Ms Kirwan worked as Deputy Head of Compliance and Head of Regulatory Affairs at PTSB and is a former Head of Financial Crime Compliance.

The Head of Compliance reports to the Chief Risk Officer. In her new position, Ms Kirwan will be responsible for leading the Regulatory Compliance function and will be the primary point of contact between PTSB and its regulator, the Central Bank of Ireland.

Speaking today, Eamonn Crowley, said:

“As PTSB continues to grow and compete, these two appointments will play a critical role in ensuring that risk management is at the heart of our decision-making process. Fiona and Mairead bring exceptional experience and leadership skills to their respective roles, and they will make a key contribution to our success over the coming years.”

Both appointments will take affect from 11 August 2025.
