On Sunday 17 March 2024, the European SEPA Schemes will undergo a mandatory change which will require PTSB, along with other Irish participating banks, to update their payment processing systems.

As a result of this, credit transfers may experience delays over the weekend of Friday 15 March to Sunday 17 March.

How will this affect payments?

This means that SEPA credit transfers (Euro payments across Ireland and the EU) made on the afternoon of Friday 15 March will be credited to the beneficiary account by Monday 18 March. This differs to conventional weekend payment processing whereby customers would normally have access to funds over the weekend.

Here’s an example:

Credit transfers that are completed on the afternoon of Friday 15 March, and would usually be credited to a PTSB beneficiary account over the weekend, will be credited to the beneficiary account by Monday 18 March.

Similarly, credit transfers that are initiated on the afternoon of Friday 15 March by a PTSB customer, and would usually be credited to the beneficiary account over the weekend, will be credited to the beneficiary account by Monday 18 March.

How you can avoid delays in payment

In order to avoid a delay in your payments due to be processed on the 15 March, we advise you to submit payments such as salaries, or bill payments before midday on Friday 15 March.

Please note: Transactions between two PTSB accounts are not affected.
