Do all PTSB branches provide cash services?

Yes we will continue to offer cash services in all of our branches across the country with a mix of full-service and fully automated cash service branches nationwide. Our fully automated cash service branches will no longer have a physical cash desk and all transactions will be carried out at our Quick Bank Machines with a Visa Debit Card or Visa Credit Card. How do I lodge or withdraw cash to/from my account now that there is no cash desk?

You can continue to lodge cash (excluding coin) and cheques to your account via our Quick Bank Machines. A PTSB Visa Debit or Credit Card is required to do so.

You can continue to withdraw up to €1,500 from our Quick Bank Machines and in addition, up to €700 from any ATM or cash back at point of sale daily via your Visa Debit Card, meaning a total of up to €2,200 can be withdrawn from any automated cash service only branch.

Please note if you have a Current Account and need to order a replacement PTSB Visa Debit Card, you can do so if you’re registered for Open24 by logging into Open24.ie. To register for Open24.ie, to order a Visa Debit Card for the first time, or to order a replacement Credit Card, please call our Open24 Contact Centre on 0818 50 24 24 or +353 1 212 4101. Our team is available Monday to Friday 9am-5pm (excluding Bank Holidays) and Saturday and Sunday 10am-2pm.

Alternatively, our Open24 team can support you in transitioning these needs to digital services such as online payments and electronic transfer.

What do I do if I need to withdraw more than the daily card withdrawal limits?

If you are looking to make a payment for a large sum of money to a third party, our team will support you in doing so via an electronic funds transfer which is quick, easy and highly secure. You can also continue to obtain bank drafts across all of our branch locations.

What do I do if I have no card for my account and how do I request one?

If you have a Current Account and need to order a replacement PTSB Visa Debit Card, you can do so if you’re registered for Open24 by logging into Open24.ie. To register for Open24.ie, to order a Visa Debit Card for the first time, or to order a replacement Credit Card, please call our Open24 Contact Centre on 0818 50 24 24 or +353 1 212 4101. Our team is available Monday to Friday 9am-5pm (excluding Bank Holidays) and Saturday and Sunday 10am-2pm.

If the account you wish to transact on does not have the option of a card facility, you can lodge funds to your account that has a card facility via our Quick Bank Machine and transfer it to your preferred account using the Open24 app, online or telephone service.

If you wish to withdraw from an account that does not have a card facility you can transfer funds using the Open24 app, online or telephone service from that account to the account that does have a card facility and withdraw the funds as normal.

How can I access cash if I am waiting on my card to be delivered in the post?

To access cash while waiting on your card, you can visit your nearest full-service branch to complete an over the counter withdrawal. View a list of our full-service branches here.

How do I lodge coin to my account now that there is no cash desk in my local branch?

Can I still get a Bank Draft?

Bank Drafts are available in all of our branches including our automated cash service and digital experience branches. However, there may be quicker and safer alternative ways for you to make your payment, such as an electronic funds transfer. Please contact our team in branch or via Open24, who can support you with this. You can call our Open24 Contact Centre on 0818 50 24 24 or +353 1 212 4101. Our team is available Monday to Friday 9am-5pm (excluding Bank Holidays) and Saturday and Sunday 10am-2pm.

I am a Business customer who regularly uses the cash desk, what are my options?

You can obtain a Visa Debit Card on your business account that will allow you to continue to lodge cash (excluding coin) and cheques via our in-branch Quick Bank Machines. Our in-branch team will be on hand to assist and support you.

As a Business customer can I still order coin for collection for my business?

In order to request a coin order you will need to do so through your nearest full-service branch, as our automated cash service branches will no longer have the facility of issuing coin. View a list of our full-service branches here.

I pay my rent/mortgage over the counter, what are my options?

Regular payments for your rent or mortgage can be easily set up via standing order, direct debit or other forms of electronic funds transfer, all from the comfort of your own home. If you are an existing PTSB customer, our dedicated team can support you in setting up any of these services in branch or via Open24. You can call our Open24 Contact Centre on 0818 50 24 24 or +353 1 212 4101. Our team is available Monday to Friday 9am-5pm (excluding Bank Holidays) and Saturday and Sunday 10am-2pm.

How can I lodge cash to someone else’s account?

There are many ways in which you can make payments to a third party account such as; standing order for regular payments or third party transfers for irregular or once off payments. If you are an existing PTSB customer our dedicated team can support you in setting up any of these services in branch or via Open24. How do I pay off my personal loan, credit card or mortgage if there is no cash desk?

You can do so by way of electronic funds transfer. If you are an existing PTSB customer our dedicated team can support you in setting up any of these services in branch or via Open 24. If I am closing my account how do I access the money remaining in my account?

You can access any balance remaining in an account that is being closed by electronically transferring the funds to a chosen account in your name that will remain active in any financial institution. You can alternatively obtain your closing balance via a bank draft which continues to be available across all locations.

If I am closing an account that is overdrawn how do I pay this off?

You can do so by way of electronic funds transfer into the account. If you are an existing PTSB customer our dedicated team can support you in setting up any of these services in branch or via Open 24. I have been granted permission from a family member via a third party account mandate to carry out any banking requirements on their behalf and do not have a card for the account. How do I continue to carry out banking requirements on their behalf?

We have a Business/Club Society/Charity account that requires two or more signatures to transact on the account and can therefore not obtain a card for the account. How do we continue to carry out our banking requirements?

Which Ulster Bank Branch locations are PTSB acquiring?

Subject to obtaining the required regulatory approvals, (from the Competition & Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) and the Central Bank of Ireland) and approval by PTSB shareholders, PTSB will acquire 25 branch locations from Ulster Bank. Find out more here.

Removal of Foreign Exchange Currency in all Branches FAQs

Can I still buy and sell foreign currency in the branch?

You can no longer buy or sell foreign currency cash in any of our branches. However you can continue to make foreign exchange payments by using foreign draft, SEPA or SWIFT payments.

Can I still obtain a foreign currency draft or send an electronic transfer in foreign currency?

You can continue to make foreign exchange payments by using foreign draft, SEPA or SWIFT payments in any of our branches.

Can I continue to lodge a foreign currency cheque?

You can continue to lodge a foreign currency cheque in any of our full-service branches. You can view a list of our full-service branches here.

I am travelling abroad to a country that uses foreign currency, how can I obtain the currency from my account?

If you’re travelling abroad, you can continue to use your PTSB Visa Debit or Visa Credit Card in-store, or when withdrawing cash through ATMs. You can also continue to use Apple Pay or Google Pay, which is a touch free, safe and secure method of making payments, wherever you see the Apple Pay, Google Pay or contactless logo in-store, online or in-app. Apple Pay and Google Pay is available on all PTSB Visa Debit and Visa Credit Cards. Am I charged for using my Visa Debit Cards or Credit Cards abroad?

ATM transaction charges apply on Euro withdrawals outside the EU and on all non-Euro withdrawals. Debit Card transaction charges apply on all debit transactions outside the Eurozone.

The following transaction charges set by PTSB apply to card purchases and ATM withdrawals abroad:

  • Charges will apply on all card purchases in foreign currency and on all card purchases outside the Eurozone at a rate of 1.75% of the Euro value of the transaction.
  • ATM transaction charges will apply on Euro withdrawals outside the EU and on all non-Euro withdrawals at 3.5% of the Euro value of the transaction.
  • Debit cards have a minimum charge of €0.46 and a maximum charge of €11.43 for card purchases and ATM withdrawals.
  • Credit Cards have no minimum and no maximum charge for card purchases and ATM withdrawals.
I have a foreign currency account; what happens to that?

Customers can continue to lodge or withdraw from Foreign Exchange Accounts using a Foreign Currency Draft in any of our branches.
