A new smishing (text) scam has been circulating claiming to be from permanent tsb and also fake permanent tsb advertisements on Facebook which claim to be offering a reward if you complete a virtual tour of a "new permanent tsb webpage".
The same message is also being advertised via social media as a sponsored advertisement via a fake Open24 page. It reads "Have you seen our new website? Take a short demo now and get 25EUR GoRewards!".
Please note: Under no circumstances will we ask you to divulge full online security credentials. If you have responded to one of these texts/adverts, please call our 24 hour Fraud Department on +353 (1) 669 5851.
It's important that you always look for the blue verified tick beside our social media pages and to double check links prior to clicking on them. Please see list of our social media names below to avoid falling victim to copycat social media pages:
The link provided in the social meida post and in the SMS brings vitcims to a fake/copycat Open24 site. Which will ask customers to fill in their internet security credentials. The link for this fake website is www.ptsb.support.com. Please note that our Open24 website URL is www.Open24.ie. If you have already clicked the link and/or sent your details, contact us as soon as possible on +353 (1) 669 5851.
When you get to the last step of the form, you will have an OTP (One-Time Pin) Code sent to your phone in order to "cancel a transaction" which criminals will use to authorise the transaction, rather than cancel it.
Please Note: We will never ask you to divulge full security credentials. If you have responded to one of these texts please contact our Fraud Department on +353 (1) 669 5851.
